The Electric Energy Society of Australia (EESA) is hosting the two day National Electric Energy Conference – EECON 2019 – at the International Convention Centre in Sydney from 26-27
November 2019.

The theme of EECON 2019 is “Engineering leadership providing sustainable, customer-centric electric energy solutions through the interactive grid”.

The EECON 2019 Conference also has an interesting two day program that will give attendees a good understanding of the many changes occurring in this rapidly changing industry.

EECON 2019 will also give attendees the opportunity to engage with companies who provide equipment and/or services to the Electric Energy Businesses. There will be a range of sponsors and exhibitors who will provide a great opportunity for attendees to understand some of the latest technologies, products and services currently available, as well as those becoming available in the electric energy area.

With more than 250 delegates from all aspects of the electric energy area across Australia and overseas expected, the event is a fantastic way to get involved in discussions about the many developments occurring in the industry as well as its progresses towards improved outcomes.

The conference will be conducted over two days and includes speakers from Australia and New Zealand across a range of subject areas including:

  • Technology: impacts of high penetration distributed energy resources and electric vehicles, network flexibility, virtual utilities, microgrids and storage, and rapid earth fault current limiters
  • Asset management: vegetation risk management using spatial analysis, automated generator site selection, fault detection and bushfire prevention, thermal monitoring, design for resilience and smart grids for remote areas
  • Transmission and regulatory environment: the role of interconnectors, projects such as Powering Sydney, Battery of the Nation and Project Marinus, NEM market price fluctuations, and renewables integration using High Voltage Direct Current
  • People and safety issues: professional development, safety in design, arc containment and electrical safety
  • System security enhancements: automation and resilience

Three keynote addresses will be made by prominent industry figures from Power System Consulting, the Australian Energy Market Operator and Energy Networks Australia.

On the afternoon prior to the conference, delegates will also be able to attend either a site visit to the Sydney Desalination Plant at Kurnell or a training session on system strength and its relation with operation of power electronics based generating plant run by TransGrid. (Numbers are limited for these sessions.)

A Conference Dinner will be held in a convivial environment at L’Aqua restaurant on the evening of 26 November, including a highly entertaining speaker.

EESA believes this conference offers a unique experience for attendees in terms of the balance and range of content, coupled with an exciting exhibition set in a unique and modern facility at the International Convention Centre.
