United Energy, a Victorian based electricity distributor, has requested early implementation of Demand Management Incentive Scheme (DMIS) projects.

United Energy’s request follows recent AER approvals of applications from AusNet Services, Energy Queensland, Ausgrid and Endeavour Energy for early application of the scheme.

The AER published details of the revised DMIS in December 2017.

The new scheme encourages distribution businesses to find lower-cost solutions to investing in network solutions. To enable greater uptake, amendments to the National Electricity Rules were made in July 2018 to allow early application of the new DMIS.

The AER continues to invite electricity distributors to provide proposals for early application of DMIS under the revised scheme, as well as stakeholder submission on United Energy’s proposal.
