They don’t care about the endangered species. The existing guideline buffers for Brolga nests is 3.2km, so why did the Willatook wind farm try to get it reduced to 800m, then winge and complain that the government made them have at least 2km. The Gov should have enforced the 3.2km current guideline or even expand it to the 5km that GPS tracking and post completion reports show is necessary. If the wind industry cared about the environment and endangered species, then they would not be applying for permits in Brolga home ranges. Don’t complain that you cant have what you were never entitled to.The only reqason they try to build there is because of the 500kv powerline that is there. The wind resource is not good,with Macarthur and Dundonnell only getting low 20% capacity factor. Their permits were issued on the promise of 43%, which was never going to happen.
