The Clean Energy Careers Hub is now live, launched by The Clean Energy Council (CEC) and offering a unique destination for the industry to list jobs focused on Australia’s clean energy transition.
Clean Energy Council Chief Executive, Kane Thornton, said, “The Clean Energy Careers Hub will help industry promote the wide range of jobs available across the sector and play a vital role in encouraging more people to join our burgeoning ranks.”
There are around 30,000 jobs in delivering the renewable energy projects already committed across Australia and a further 50,000 in the pipeline to deliver the projects with planning approvals.
Construction and installation jobs currently dominate the renewable energy labour market, comprising 80 per cent of current jobs.
As the industry grows in scale, as many as half the jobs could be in operation and maintenance by 2035, especially in the wind sector – which means they are essentially permanent roles.
A recent Clean Energy Council survey revealed that a majority of employers in the sector expect to increase their workforce over the next 12 months, owing to a large number of shovel-ready projects.
Mr Thornton said, “The clean energy industry can be a powerful catalyst for strengthening the mostly rural and regional communities where these projects are based, providing quality, ongoing job opportunities, boosting local manufacturing sectors and, in turn, supporting the local economy.
“As we look beyond the impacts of COVID-19 and the associated economic downturn, the clean energy industry can be a source of hope and optimism, delivering the low emissions future the industry and the general public wants to see.”
