The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) has launched a newly redeveloped website to help unlock new value for consumers, improve data access, transparency, choice and user experience, and enable flexibility and new energy services.
The website contains new features, functionalities, an intuitive navigation structure and refreshed design.
The site’s redevelopment delivers on a key component of AEMO’s corporate plan, which commits AEMO to delivering a modern digital platform to improve customer experience.
“As our energy system transforms, it’s critical that we innovate our digital platforms to provide an easy-to-use, secure and scalable digital experience for our audiences,” AEMO Chief Digital and Business Transformation Officer, Joe Locandro, said.
“The launch of the new site is a major milestone in AEMO’s Corporate Plan and will provide our stakeholders with a go-to platform that will act as an independent source of truth for data and insights on Australia’s dynamic energy sector.”
Visitors to the new site will find a new navigation structure that intuitively groups information, improved search and filtering functionality, improved interlinkages between relevant pages, and clear visualisations of key metrics and data.
“We started our website redevelopment journey by consulting extensively with our stakeholders, assessing what information they needed most, and what website features would better support their role in our energy markets,” AEMO Chief External Affairs Officer, Tony Chappel, said.
“The feedback we gained from these consultations has been critical to delivering a fit-for-purpose product that adds real value. We will continue to engage with our stakeholders beyond the website’s go-live date and have established feedback channels to ensure we’re continually modifying the website to enhance the user experience.”
The new site will also migrate the energylive.aemo.com.au site to the aemo.com.au location. Users can still access Energy Live underneath the ‘news’ tab in the aemo.com.au navigation bar.
The Energy Live brand, mobile application and newsletter will be retained, and AEMO will continue to deliver weekly news on the national and international energy sector. Existing links have been redirected so users will still be able to use any bookmarks stored.
To help users understand and navigate through the site’s new layout and features, AEMO has developed a short YouTube tutorial that runs through the site’s navigation structure, key improvements and new features.
